Highlight of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Day 2

Day 2!

The second day of this festive week! The designers today are also very
Chanel. They really doesn't need any introduction for them. Since I already covered it, I don't have to include them here, right?

Stéphane Rolland is a French haute couture designer and a costume designer. The collection he presented is basically like a sketchbook - black and white. There are no other colors and the collection are generally coherent. The details are generally flowers and the designs are quite dramatic and different from what you would normally see. As much as I want to like how unique the collection is, There are a couple of pieces that gave me a hard time doing so. Let's begin with the most bizarre one shall we?

I don't like the embroidery on the skirt. It is weird. I admire the idea of this look, but it just doesn't work for me. It looks like something for a 60 year old woman, and not in a good way.

I don't like these three looks, but I do love the jackets. They are innovative and chic. The monochromatic color is very easy for consumers to wear. My favorite jacket is Look 1. The way it fans out is awesome!

Now this is the "hm.. I'm not so sure..." part. I do like the idea of two segments of the dress that is connected by sheer fabric, but I don't like how it looks. Look 4 may work on some people, but Look 6 is just too much details. The feather on the lower skirt is weird and unappealing. Look 5 is kind of safe, and I like the chest detail.

Now is what I love! The flowery embellishments on the shoulders (and wrist for Look 9) is fabulous and beautiful. It truly gave the entire look character and it looks edgy and feminine all at the same time. Wonderful job! Look 8 is my favorite out of those three because it looks modern and elegant.

The two color looks that are classy and chic. Look 10 is very simple, half white half black, but the simplistic nature of the dress highlighted the model and gave a very luxurious look. Look 11 is chic and young, I love the ruffles on the hips. It is my favorite look out of the three. The fan out shoulder design makes it perfect for the wearer to stand out from the crowd, but doesn't scream too much that it looks like what a lunatic would wear. It is crazy to a controlled degree.

Polished, High-class, Sophisticated. But Bold. These three looks are killer.

Atelier Gustavo Lins is a Brazilian designer. He was actually studying architecture before he become a fashion designer. His terminology and vocabulary for fashion is still very architectural, describing the spine of the body as a pillar. Even though there aren't many particular "pop" moments that made this collection particularly memorable, I like the general look.

Giorgio Armani Privé is designed by Giorgio Armani (obviously), and he is a man who needs no introduction. There is a unison motif throughout this collection, which is the little wand thing that is inspired by those staffs carried by kings. In general, I like the collection, though there are some that are so bizarre and out of place that I don't quite understand its purpose. The hats is a cute addition that really ties the collection together since it strays kind of far at some point.

Alexandre Vauthier is a French designer. His collection is my favorite of the day. I just love the overall sexiness and chic-ness. I would totally buy any of these pieces (if I could afford it of course).

Normal Street looks that is not so normal. In Look 1, I love the jacket and the satin detail. In Look 2, the Very low cut jacket is very sexy. I love the halter top in look 3, and the shininess of the pants is a pop of the look.

The little neck piece that holds two panels together may be simple, but it creates a very sexy but sophisticated look. Especially with the addition of the jackets/sleeves that toned down the sexiness and add elegance. Look 4 would be perfect for a cocktail party.

These three are the cocktail dresses with a hint of blazer. There are little details that reminds me of a blazer, along with the neckpiece, it really creates a smart, powerful woman type of look. Look 7 is my favorite.

Look 15 is the finale, although it is a bit out of place, I still think it looks gorgeous and it has the similar chic=ness of the entire collection.

Bouchra Jarrar is a French designer who has a high respect for Parisian (Paris-people) fashion. Her goal is to help women express the elegance they have.

Spotlight! Michelle Obama rockin' it during Inauguration!

It was the inauguration yesterday, did anyone catch it? Or did people actually went to DC? Either way, it was an impressive sight. The huge amount of people and crowd that congregated, and the insanely awesome National Anthem Beyonce delivered. It was hella beautiful!

However, even the million-dollar-mega-star cannot over-shine Michelle Obama's fashion sense of the day. Starting off the day with a Thom Browne blueish-gray striped jacket with a J-crew belt. The most creative pop of the entire look is the plum colored leather gloves. I loved it! It was so incredibly cute and young that is really perfect for such an important day.

And just by the way, I love her hair cut!

Now, we go to the inaugural ball. She stayed with Jason Wu, the designer who designed her inaugural gown in 2009. This red gown is beautiful and Michelle has a perfect frame for it, too. She is tall and fit, that definitely carried the dress in a much more composed manner. The color of the dress complimented well with her skin tone too, and it doesn't eat up her own glow!

Paris Haute Couture Week Spring 2013 is upon us!! All fashionista rejoice!

Paris Fashion Week is a semi-annual fashion show that promotes fashion to the world! It is basically like New York Fashion Week, but in Paris, and the collections has the French's elegance.

Since there are so many talented designers and beautiful collection presenting, I will do a highlight coverage every day and pick out my favorite looks of this week and hopefully condense the week of awesomeness for everyone!

Today is Day 1!

Christophe Josse is a French haute couture designer. This color scheme is fairly neutral and not too crazy. What is very haute couture about this collection is the craftsmanship. I really love the simple elegance and not having so much extravagant embellishments.

Christian Dior is designed by Raf Simmons. The set of the runway is themed as a garden that reminds me of Palace of Versailles. The looks are perfect for spring because of the lightness and mobility. I am not normally a big fan for Christian Dior, but this collection really impressed me. It carries the freshness of spring and the romantic mood that is loyal to the brand.

Another very beautiful thing about this collection is the fabric. They are such gorgeous fabrics that bounce and flows. They look a bit stiffer than chiffon, but softer than tulle, which really fascinate (and confuse) me! Love it!

It doesn't look too special, but oh wow! After looking at the runway video, this is the most beautiful skirt I've ever seen! The way it moves and how it changes colors! It may seem like a light, light blueish white fabric, but it turns silver and all other type of things while under the light. It is absolutely beautiful.

This picture doesn't do justice to how the dress actually look like. The skirt is made of very light material that bounces and flies with the wind.

I love the asymmetry of this look. It is very creative and playful that would be perfect for numerous events. I am not a big fan of how they pair it with the pink boots, but I think Anna Martynova, the model, pulled it off.

These are the final looks. What stunned me was how the skirt look stiff, but in actuality, they are very light and soft that floats and bounces as the models walk down the runway.

Iris Van Herpen is a Dutch fashion designer. I think I like her style the most. She always want to construct and sculpt. She uses fashion as her outlet to "create" and explore something that is not necessarily in the fashion world. For example, in this collection, her inspiration is lightening and the childhood urge to control it.

I love the transparency of the dress and how it reminds me of a huge rib cage, the moment before the lightening strikes, and a dead willow tree after being hit by lightening.

This is absolutely stunning! I adore the reflective nature of the fabric, and I absolutely love the way it is constructed. This the perfect example of Iris Van Herpen. Awesome!

Alexis Mabille. Oh. My. Word. Pastels. So. Many. Pastels. I didn't know how I feel about it, but in the end, I kind of like it! It's like the Capitol fashion in Hunger Games. Colors, Pastels, exaggerated poofy-ness and tinker-bell magic. Even the models look unearthly and pixie-like.

This is my favorite look out of his collection. Beautiful sheer skirt and color. 

Giambattista Valli is an Italian designer. Interesting collection. I enjoy the texture, prints and the royal ambiance of the runway with white and gold panel doors. Some are a little darker and heavier for spring, but they are perfect for spring cocktail parties, so hey, that is great!

Beautiful dress, beautiful fabric, awesome belt! Do you notice that its bronze leaves intertwining with each other? (I didn't at first!I especially love how it looks while it is moving.

Crazy prints. It is a mix between leopard with purplish-gray roses.

I cannot express how much I love these dresses. It is such a bizarre shape that I would usually resent because it may not look flattering on certain women. However I really love the black, reptilian skin-texture detail down the middle of the dress. Its like a reverse sexy skunk!
