Looks - Human Anatomy!

Skeletons are commonly associated with death and other dark stuff, but why can't it be cute and fun? In today's shoot, I matched a pair of skeleton gloves (In pink, which is super adorabs~) with a skull shirt. The skull design on the shirt is specially designed and it is very meticulous.

The look in general still has a certain edge to it even though the pink gloves very cute. It is very comfortable to shop, visit museums, or hang out in this outfit since the denim-like leggings and soft knit shirt is comfortable and loose, along with the knit hat and the gloves to keep you warm and stylish. I chose to not put on even more jewelries such as necklaces because I don't want to crowd the graphics in the front.

So, what do you think?

Looks - Cold.... Just So Cold

It was 31 Fahrenheit this afternoon. It was so cold. What was worse is the wind.

To prepare for an upcoming shoot for Embodied Magazine, I had to go to a local thriftique - AuH2O to gather enough garments to be featured in the shoot.

AuH2O is owned by a NYU Gallatin Alumnus, Kate Goldwater. The title of the store is a smart play of her last name. Au = Gold, H2O = Water. The selection of clothes in the store is great. They are mostly vintage, and there were some very cute knit sweaters there. What is even cuter are the accessories they carry. It is a thriftique that definitely worth the visit.

I decided to buy a purple knit sweater and have a mini photo shoot. The owl necklace is also new. :)

Not Born to be a model, but apparently I can pull it off.
Jeans = PacSun

Purple Sweater = AuH2O
Owl Necklace = AuH2O
Ring = Forever21

Purse = AuH2O

Bootie = Zara

Looks - A Hot Day in Winter.

So did anyone feel how hot today is? It's even 72 Fahrenheit degrees at one point today. II really appreciated the warm weather cause it has been very cold in New York City lately.

This is my third day into the spring semester, and I finally got the chance to take photos of my looks. This is about 5:30 in the afternoon, and I just came back from an entire day of class, so sorry about my very tired expressions.

I hope you like the look!!

Also, I want to take an opportunity to introduce a new writer, and also my very good friend, Effy! She is also the one who took those photos. She is going to be focusing on museum exhibitions, photographies, and other more fine arts related topics. We haven't really developed any specific ideas yet, but so far this is the case.

Life - Sunday Thrift-shopping!

It is so cold today! It kind of sucks how I don't have more pictures of my thrifting experience. Just too cold to pull out the camera. (it was 30F today, along with the wind.)

My look today is pretty laid back for a lazy Sunday shopping trip. I was wearing a Aztec print knit dress, black tights, Forever21 kicks and bags. Then I top everything with my J-Crew jacket. Just saying, this is not warm enough.

My look of the day!
Today I went to East Village to thrift and I end up with some scarves, tights, and a bracelet! I got all of these things from Search and Destroy, a very punk, rock type of store. There are some store decoration that really freaked me out, such as the zombie, the hanging mannequin, and separated (limb-by-limb by the way) human form. It was disturbing. Other than that, the selection was massive, with plenty of cool/edgy things that you can pick. The place is a bit grimy  and the style is more on extreme (studs and leather), but they are pretty cool.

Then we went to a couple more shops down 9th street. The stores are nice and cute, but the selection was not big and they are all vintage antiques so unless you have a very specific item/style, it might not be suitable.

Well, now, let's take a look with my finds!

Net Knit Shirt

Four Scarves

Awesome Thigh Socks

Super excited to put together an outfit especially with the scarves. I don't usually shop for scarves but now that I have them, I can't wait to have fun with them!! Will update with results!

Jeremy Scott - Crazy and Outrageous

Started in 1997, Jeremy Scott’s eponymous line is an example of lowbrow culture transformed into high art. Often more conceptual than wearable, the designs change drastically every season with the evolution of Scott’s whimsy. Clam-shaped dresses and one-legged pants are just two of the most notorious items from this line. -- New York Fashion on Jeremy Scott

I normally don't know any designers. Of course I know all of those big shots such as Chanel, Gucci, Prada, etc. Even when I'm interested in being a fashion designer, staying on top of the fashion trend isn't my first priority. For me, I believe that each of us have our own sense of fashion and style that should not be affect too much by other designers. Even though it is healthy to look at other examples and consider the ideas and see what works and what doesn't, I still normally keep away from magazines and fashion runway shows to keep my originality.

However, when I first got out of my way to understand a designer, it was Jeremy Scott. I knew him over a group of singers -- 2NE1. I wrote once about them on my blog, and they love to wear what Jeremy Scott designs. Then I slowly realize how creative those garments the girls had on are. I did some of my research and realize that they were wearing Jeremy Scott. His designs are outrageous and crazzy with insane colors and concepts. They are more conceptual rather than wearable, but when put together well it can look amazing and eye catching. What first caught my attention was their shoes.

He collaborated with Adidas, and created many casual items that was very .... outrageous. His ideas were so different from the others it is difficult to not notice. Here are a couple examples of what he designed that I think is very impressive.

Adidas Jeremy Scott Wings

Adidas Jeremy Scott Wings 2.0
.
He created a couple wing shoes that evolved over time with differnt colors. If you look at the homepage of the adidas online shop, those shoes will definatedly catch the shoppers eyes. This pair of shoes will catch the attention from everyone for sure. This is one of my favorite designs. He has other shoes designs including Mickey Tongue's shoes, Flame (instead of wings) shoes, teddybear tongue shoes, license plate tongue shoes, etc.His other clothes colloboration with Adidas were also very impressive.

Now getting into his mainline, he created many big shirts that can act like a baggy t-shirt, or a dress.His most recent collection is the Fall 2011. And OMG, he blew my mind again. His theme this time is very colorful colors (not really), but there are a couple that blew my mind. Here are a couple examples that I can totally see many celebrities, such as 2NE1, would wear.

Don't know about you, but I think those are pretty bad ass.
