Portfolio - ALEXANDER WANG

Portfolio will be a section that includes recent works of an impressive designer, some may be very famous, some may be newcomers. However, the point is to layout an artist's work and see the progression and theme of the season. Sometimes, similar silhouette or technique could be observed and it is just kind of cool to see how much an designer were able to create.

Alexander Wang's collection this year was impressive and beautiful. I am pretty sure all of his dresses in Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear are featured somewhere in fashion magazines, especially the fishnet connected dresses. His inspiration were different animals, but he interpreted it very abstractly and went towards an unpredictable collection. These original designs landed Alexander Wang an even higher acclaim than he already has.

Alexander Wang Autumn/Winter 2013 collection was also another groundbreaking design, with a lot of fuzziness, just like Lots-O the Hugging Bear in Toys Story 3. Of course, oppose to strawberry smelling comfort, Alexander Wang's fluff is tougher, darker, and much more badass. The medieval chain helmet inspired hoodies, the leather skirts, and the sweaters are all beautiful, and the show was absolutely perfect.

Then news broke out about how he is the "next of kin" of Balenciaga, a historical design house that emphasizes structure. Many people were astonished by the news and were "terrified" of how Alexander Wang were going to execute it since he tends to be on a more "casual, street wear" type of route than super Balenciaga-high-fashion. I must say, he NAILED it. Although I agree that the collection doesn't have the Balenciaga "pop" and wow factor, the collection is definitely sophisticated, composed, and well-structured. The results were impressive and Alexander Wang gained my trust.

Trend - New York Fashion Week A/W2013 SHOES

I've been intending to do this post for a long time now... SHOES! I've loved shoes for the longest time, and whenever I can choose between an awesome pair of shoes and a great jacket, I will go for the shoes 9 out of 10 times. For me, the choice of shoes are one of the easiest way to dress an outfit up or down. As a student, I usually wear a simple pair of jeans and knit top. However, if I feel that today is a special day, I will wear a pair of fancier shoes instead of a pair of sneakers, or wear a type of shoes to impress people. So it may not be a huge surprise that I want to talk about the shoes trends this season. 

there are six general forms of shoes presented for the Fall 2013 collection: heels, ankle booties, mid/lower-calves boots, knee-high boots, strappy heels, and alteration looks of traditional shoes (I'll explain in a bit). I've gathered photos from the runway shows and hopefully provided an easier view of this season's beautiful shoe collection! I had There are a few designs that are my ultimate favorites, but my favorite designer throughout the season would be Prabal Gurung. His designs and I looks chic and empowering, and I would do anything to get a pair (especially one of these boots!)

Ankle Bootie

A/W 2013 Ready-to-Wear: Ankle Bootie 

Lace-Up and Leather. These boots are generally ankle high, and some has platform, some doesn't. Platforms are slowly beginning to phase out and we may be able to see that in more pictures below.

Highlight New York Fashion Week 2013 Day 3, (02/09)

Alexander Wang: What Alexander Wang is known for is the chic cuts and the empowering looks he offer women. This season, he used a lot more textures than he used to. Most dominantly is the use of furs and leathers. The medieval headpiece looks and the fuzzy shoes are pretty awesome. 

Experience - Alexander Wang's A/W 2013 Show

Alexander Wang's A/W2013 fashion show was yesterday! It was an amazing show, the furry coats, the texture, and the sleek/chic looks was quite a sensation! I especially love the armor looking fuzzy hat thing. The whole show was predominately black/white/gray (very Alexander Wang), but what was great was the pop in the long ponytail of all of his models.

The music was awesome too! I especially love the opening. Eye of the Tiger? Badass!

I took some runway photos myself, They are obvisouly not as detailed nor good compared to the video, but I tried, and I just want to share my experience. I was merely a standing guest (because I'm not buyer :P) My spot was very close where the models walk out, so the very beginning and the end of the stretch.

Looks - Gussy up for New York Fashion Week 2013!

Today, I was invited to a very special event: Alexander Wang and Robert Geller's runway show. They presented the autumn/winter 2013. So one will have to dress fashionably to attend such an important event. So? This is what I came up with, I decided to go with simple and sweet. I wore a pair of tights and a short blue tribal print skirt from Forever21, with a half sheer black shirt (also from Forever21) and a grey cardigan. Lastly, I complete the look by wearing these awesome black-golden heels, a Zara coat, and carried a black-and-white hand bag. It turns out to be a very chic look.

Even though today is the aftermath of Nemo the blizzard and it is really cold outside but I still sucked up the coldness and dressed professionally. It was very beautiful out in Washington Square Park because it was covered in white snow. Walking in the slushes, however, was a pain in the butt. What us girls will do for fashion.

The show itself was a great experience, which I will elaborate more later!
