Looks - Why is a Raven like a Writing Desk?

"Why is a Raven like a Writing Desk?" will be a question that I will be always asking...

Hey everyone! Another styling shoot is finally out~ This is actually an accident and it was totally unintentional. So Effy was doing an assignment for her Film class, and the concept were about this girl who has multiple personality disorder. That is the general idea, and the finished product of the film will be posted later so look forward to that! Personally, I really like this shoot because the photos are just awesome and dark. It has this rebellious teenager type of thing going on. The photo actually depicts the deranged crazy very well so I think the title is very fitting considering how it is a riddle that is not suppose to make sense.

The look today is totally black. It goes from the black bootie, to the black jeans, then my black shirt, and lastly the black jacket. Thank god my hair is dyed blonde, or I'll probably look like a floating head! Black is really a color that looks good no matter how you wear it. Of course, some may think that it is spring time and black is a rather grim color, but as long as the fabric and texture is light enough, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Looks - Urban Outfitters Skull Shirt!

The sunshine makes me so happy!

The weather has been very badly lately but it finally got better yesterday! It was a glorious day with bright sun and nice breeze. As you can see above, I was very pleased. To celebrate such a great day, we did another photoshoot! We are not having as much photoshoots lately because it is the joyful midterm season for us students, and we need to study before we can take pictures. Plus the weather wasn't ideal anyways. And now we can finally have a new set of photos out, yay!

The main garment to introduce is the skull shirt from Urban Outfitters, which is currently on sale for $9.99. It's a great deal in my opinion. The shirt is incredibly comfortable, flowy, and the design in the front is just so creative and awesome that it has a bit McQueen-esque to it (probably because of the skulls). I paired the shirt with a knitted jacket from American Eagle, jeans from Forever21, and a pair of knee-high boots from DSW. The look is more casual and comfortable, emphasizing chicness. I wore it to my midterm today actually. There are also a lot of different ways to dress this shirt, which is its advantage too since you can change the tone so easily by simply using different outerwear. Go check it out!

Although the shirt is the focal point, but these boots are awesome nonetheless.

Original - "STEREO-TYPE" MusiCouture Fashion Show + Lookbook Shoot

Stereo-type  Collection
Gallatin School of Individualized Studies is one of the schools in New York University. It's a great school for people who has a lot of different interest and have no idea how to channel it into a traditional major. Another cool thing about Gallatin is that it holds an annual runway show ever since 2009. The first year starts with a eco-friendly themed show, and 2010 was a gender-awared theme. This year, the theme is "music". The show is to explore how music and fashion are interconnected. The name of the show is MusiCouture.

The name of my collection si named Stereo_type.

Music and Fashion are connected in many ways in my opinion. Whenever I am designing something I always turn on the specific tone of music and start sketching. For this collection, Stereo_type, it is about combining the two cultural identity I have. I was raised in Taiwan until seventh grade and studied in boarding school for five years. The eastern and western culture inside me clashes a lot of the time and I had an era of identity crisis. However, I understand that sometimes it is the multiple identities and cultures that make one so beautiful. This collection combines my eastern heritage and the western culture, exhibiting the different side and colors of music in a fashionable manner. Each look is inspired by a specific type of music from one of the two cultures. There are the eastern traditional music and pop music, there are also the western classical, neoclassical, and pop music. The elements of the looks may be stereotypical, but the looks in general is innovative and modern, turning something that is old into new.

Looks - Prabal Gurung's Floral Crush Shorts

Well it has been a long time, but we finally got another styling shoot! Today we are featuring the super cute pair of shorts featured in the Prabal Gurung for Target - LOVE collection. The collection was sold during the mid-February (during Valentines Day) and it was an absolute shopping frenzy. When I first went to the store, it was already sold out and I was lucky enough to find it in the Target at New Jersey. The shorts was adorable and comfortable. The print is one of the signature prints in the collection (along with the "First Date Print").

Because the print is already so colorful and eye-catching, there is no need to match it with crazy tops or some big chunky jewelry. In fact, big jewelries may cheapen the short because of its adorable nature. I matched it with a black top and cardigan simply because I want it to stand out, but it'll do great with other color tops too as long as its something that coincide with the palette of the shorts. If you really want to pair it with a crazy top, make sure the pattern matches and is from the same corner of the color palette to avoid looking like a clown. I wore it with heels, but it is also perfect for sneakers or flats, as long as the color matches!

Looks - Human Anatomy!

Skeletons are commonly associated with death and other dark stuff, but why can't it be cute and fun? In today's shoot, I matched a pair of skeleton gloves (In pink, which is super adorabs~) with a skull shirt. The skull design on the shirt is specially designed and it is very meticulous.

The look in general still has a certain edge to it even though the pink gloves very cute. It is very comfortable to shop, visit museums, or hang out in this outfit since the denim-like leggings and soft knit shirt is comfortable and loose, along with the knit hat and the gloves to keep you warm and stylish. I chose to not put on even more jewelries such as necklaces because I don't want to crowd the graphics in the front.

So, what do you think?

Looks - Temperate Tuesday

Today is a lazy Tuesday. I didn't do anything besides painting and stuff. It's just one of those days that you don't feel well and you cannot bring yourself to do anything productive. Eventually, after finishign some pretty awesome things, I was finally able to start reading.

Well, this is the look of my day :) Like I said, it was a very relaxing day, very "temperate". Big, baggy tee, Leggings, Flat-rim hat. My new blonde-ish hair too!! Gotta Love the lazy days.

Looks - Cold.... Just So Cold

It was 31 Fahrenheit this afternoon. It was so cold. What was worse is the wind.

To prepare for an upcoming shoot for Embodied Magazine, I had to go to a local thriftique - AuH2O to gather enough garments to be featured in the shoot.

AuH2O is owned by a NYU Gallatin Alumnus, Kate Goldwater. The title of the store is a smart play of her last name. Au = Gold, H2O = Water. The selection of clothes in the store is great. They are mostly vintage, and there were some very cute knit sweaters there. What is even cuter are the accessories they carry. It is a thriftique that definitely worth the visit.

I decided to buy a purple knit sweater and have a mini photo shoot. The owl necklace is also new. :)

Not Born to be a model, but apparently I can pull it off.

Looks - A Hot Day in Winter.

So did anyone feel how hot today is? It's even 72 Fahrenheit degrees at one point today. II really appreciated the warm weather cause it has been very cold in New York City lately.

This is my third day into the spring semester, and I finally got the chance to take photos of my looks. This is about 5:30 in the afternoon, and I just came back from an entire day of class, so sorry about my very tired expressions.

I hope you like the look!!

Original - Cubism Font

WRZ Original is a category where I create my own stuff and showcase it here!

Typography is an art form that is very important to this era. With many advertisements and promotional materials, the right font can convey the right message to attract attention.

Typography has always been a big part of the arts I've created.

This time, I decided to mix it up and instead of creating font that compliments the art, why not create fonts that ARE art?

This font is called "cubism". It is exactly like it sounds. Cubism art in its font form. This is my homage to Picasso and the Cubism Movement. I don't have a download source yet since I haven't turn it into the right document form yet, but I can always do that later.

So what do you think? Do you like it? Please leave comments below!!

Original - Aurora Inspired Mini-Collection

The complete Aurora Collection
Aurora has always been a phenomenon that amazes me. When I was doing a project in the Pre-college program of Rhode Island School of Design (Aka RISD), I decided to look up some photos of auroras to see if it can inspire me. It did. The way the light shines and curves that create such a beautiful and mystical light. So I decided to create a mini-collection that is inspired by these lights.
All of the dresses have black as their base color to resemble the dark knight, than the different color chiffon interlace and curves with each other that resembles the lights in the sky. I also play with the sheerness of the fabric and sometimes single layer or double layer to show the different opacity an aurora has.
I never got the chance to make it until November 2012, when Embodied Magazine graciously accept my designs and set up a fashion shoot for the magazine. Embodied Magazine is a Gallatin based fashion magazine that is just starting up. It hopes to reach the same quality as other fashion magazines, but advocate healthy body image and self love.

So here are the final product of the photoshoot!!!
